A time to be heard.
It is perfectly normal to feel fed up, low and confused by your own thoughts and feelings. This can happen to anyone, at any point in their life. It is possible that you’re not even sure why you feel so low but recognise that something doesn’t feel right.
At Here counselling, I offer the time and the space to enable you to explore the issues that are troubling you in a safe non-judgemental environment. The confidential space will allow you to be truly open and honest with your thoughts and feelings. Often just by saying thoughts aloud can bring clarity and relief to unresolved issues. You may discover new perspectives, understanding and challenge those ‘stuck’ feelings.
Therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and can be weekly/fortnightly. It is a good idea to have sessions on the same day and time slot each week as this will enable consistency and stability. However, where this is not possible we can be flexible and adjust the sessions accordingly.
Using Integrative techniques I will tailor my sessions to your individual needs. I may use Psychotherapy, person centred and cbt techniques to support you whilst you reflect on your thoughts and feelings. No two people are the same therefore no two therapy sessions are the same. Starting with an initial assessment appointment we can meet and discuss the areas you would like to focus on. You can ask me any questions about therapy that may be unclear. If you decide that now is not the right time for you there is no obligation to continue. However, if you chose to embark on regular sessions we will gently work through your experiences and begin to understand how they have impacted on your well-being.
Together we can discuss what is troubling you and what you would like to achieve in your sessions. Regular reviews can ensure progression and expectations are being met. During this time we can gently work through the issues that are holding you back, allowing clarity and the opportunity for you to move forward in your life.

Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after traumatic events. I can help you explore these symptoms and aim to bring clarity to muddled thoughts and memories. We will look at ways to manage anxiety and worry along with exploring your current coping strategies. We can build on these, making them stronger to help support you moving forward.
Bereavement is a distressing time with many emotions surfacing throughout the healing process. Individuals grieve in different ways and there is no right or wrong way to deal with loss. It is possible that the loss of a loved one at a young age has impacted your life and you would like to understand this.
Loss can come in many forms such as the end of a relationship, job, home and health. Any loss can feel devastating.
With any change there is loss.
You don’t have to be on your own.
I can support you as you come to terms with your loss and the impact upon you.
Many people suffer from depression at some point in their life, often feeling shame and trying to hide their symptoms. They may try to carry on as normal but feel alone and withdraw from those around them. It may be scary and evoke many anxieties. Being able to express these uncomfortable emotions in therapy can help ease confusing and distressing thoughts.
As a result of prolonged anxiety our bodies can respond in many ways such as pain or panic attacks. Together we can explore depression/anxiety and find useful coping strategies that work for the individual. Through our sessions I will support you to explore and unlock possible changes that you would like to happen in your life, promoting long term personal growth.
I feel that the best type of therapy addresses the cause rather than the symptoms. Finding the root cause of depression and anxiety is like finding a key to a lock and offers the opportunity to make changes for a better life.
There is no pressure.
You can simply be you and together we can talk.
A key part of my counselling will be self reflection, exploring the true person that you are. I specialise in working with people experiencing self esteem issues, addressing the critical voice within. Through the work I can help you to see your strengths so that it is possible to overcome the past or present difficulties. We can develop your self worth and learn how to tackle any negative opinions. Inner bullies can be detrimental to your wellbeing leaving you exhausted and confused! We can learn how to take control, encourage and nurture self. Through investigating your self care, we can create the time to understand your needs and what is helpful to you.
Why dog therapy helps…..
Dogs have evolved to become acutely attuned to humans, our behaviour and emotions. They interpret our body language and tone of voice. They make great companions.
Studies show that contact with dogs can help humans reduce stress, anxiety and depression. They can ease the feeling of loneliness, add joy and offer unconditional love. Dogs can improve motivation, help build trust and provide a sense of security. Simply playing with a dog can elevate serotonin and dopamine helping with mental well-being.
Being around a calm dog can help reduce muscle tension and lower the heart rate. The power of touch through stroking a loving animal can soothe anxiety and bring a sense of peace and happiness.
Through dog therapy sessions clients can gain comfort and build confidence.
Dog therapy can offer the opportunity to become more mindful and appreciate the joy of the present, letting go of the past and worry less about the future.
Contact me to discuss your needs and we can create a bespoke package of sessions working with my therapy dog Elvis .
Elvis is a gentle, loving pug who loves to be close to humans. His huge kind eyes puts anyone at ease. He is quiet, likes to be stroked and enjoys lots of sleep! He is extremely friendly and sociable.

I have 9 years experience working in schools with young people and families meeting children’s academic and emotional needs. I worked with external professionals communicating, creating plans and resolving issues.
I have several years volunteering at a wonderful charity called Coping with cancer. Here I offered counselling sessions to individuals, supporting them with their cancer diagnosis and the impact this had on their life.
Family members were also welcome to their own sessions if they needed space to come to terms with a loved ones illness.
I spent 2 years at The Leicester counselling centre meeting an array of clients and working with some lovely therapists and staff.
I have owned my own private practice since 2018
Feedback…
Clients tell me that I am a kind and friendly therapist. Someone who is patient and has the ability to help clients see a new perspective and move forward.
During ending sessions clients have reflected how much they have grown through the process, finding clarity and confidence. They valued the support and understanding and felt much more equipped to manage life’s obstacles.
As a therapist I am grateful for my clients and recognise that I learn just a much from them as they learn from me.
